Family Member Benefits

The Y encourages people to be active and healthy at all stages of life. For busy families, we know it can be hard to get to the gym on a regular basis. We also know it is important to instill the habits and values that will lead to a lifetime of health and happiness at an early age. That's why we are proud to offer complimentary amenities to our Family Members like the Child Watch Center and Youth Group Exercise classes, so your child can be in a stimulating, safe and fun environment while you work out, or even getting active themselves. Family Members also enjoy priority registration and reduced rates for all youth programs, including swim lessons, basketball, gymnastics, karate, youth dance and more.

Financial Assistance

The Y is accessible, inclusive and affordable. We never turn anyone away from membership because of an inability to pay. Caring members commit time to raise funds, specifically through our annual Community Support Campaign and other events throughout the year that enable us to help each other. Our financial assistance program is based on total household income and size of family. Please contact the Member Services Department if you think you qualify. A representative will be able to discuss this process with you, or you can email any questions to memberservices@burbankymca.org

Our 30-Day Promise

We promise to do our part by providing you with a personalized program designed from a one-to-one orientation that supports you in your healthier lifestyle choices and you promise to attend the one-to-one orientation session and complete 2 visits a week during your first month of membership. That's all we ask. After your first 30 days, the Y will refund 100% of your enrollment fee and first month's dues if the Y is not the right fit for your quest to a healthier lifestyle.

Southern California YMCA Membership Reciprocity Program

Q. What is the Membership Reciprocity Program?

A. This program allows active, full facility/full privilege Y members the flexibility to use participating YMCA facilities. Active adult and family members of a participating Y facility in Southern California may visit any other participating Southern California Y free of charge. Host Y (YMCA the member visits) visits should not meet or exceed monthly visits at Home Y (YMCA that receives the member's dues).

Q. Who is eligible to participate in the program?

A. The program is valid for Southern California YMCA full facility/full privilege members only, not program or promotional members.

Q. Is Silver Sneakers, Silver & Fit, etc. eligible to participate in Reciprocity?

A. For this agreement, they are not eligible to participate in Reciprocity.

Q. Is there a fee to participate?

A. No, this program is offered as a benefit for all active full facility/full privilege members. All the member must do is maintain an active membership at their Home Y.

Q. When does this program begin?

A. The program will take effect starting on September 12, 2016.

Q. Does this replace the AWAY (Always Welcome at the YMCA) program?

A. No, the AWAY program still exists. Visitors from outside Southern California should use the AWAY program. Southern California Y members visiting a Y in Southern California should use the reciprocity program as there is no additional fee, which might not be the case with the AWAY program.

Q. When will all Ys in Southern California participate reciprocity?

A. A majority of Southern California Ys have chosen to participate in the reciprocity program. We anticipate that all Ys will join by January 2018.

Q. Are there restrictions in place at other YMCAs?

A. Each YMCA is required to outline any program participation restrictions on their website. We encourage you to go to the website of the Y you intend to use before visiting.

Q. What do I need to do when I visit a Host Y?

A. Visiting members must present a valid YMCA membership and photo identification when they visit a Host YMCA. If you don't have your membership card, staff can look you up in the database.

Q. Do reciprocal members need to sign anything?

A.Visiting members must complete all documents upon first visit as determined by Host YMCA including but not limited to: visiting member waiver or standard membership application, liability waiver, child protection plan related forms and authorization to run their name through a sex offender registry.

Q. Can I bring a guest into a Y other than my home Y?

A. As reciprocal members, you are not allowed to bring guests (non-Y members) into those facilities.

Q. Are there restrictions on the number of visits each month?

A. A visiting member must use their Home Y more than 50% of the time.

Q. What areas of the YMCA may a reciprocal member use?

A. The program is intended for use of standard facilities; typically swimming pools, gymnasiums, racquetball courts, basketball courts, fitness centers and group exercise classes.

Q. Can a reciprocal member register for a class at the Host Y?

A. Visiting members may sign up for classes (at a Host Y) that require an additional fee at the program or non-member rate.
